Winter Wanderland

Winter Wanderland

Winter Wanderland

Once upon a time...

...back in mid November an idea popped into our heads. How could we create a winter wanderland from an unloved space next to the Chelsea Fire Station on King's Road? From that moment the idea had a momentum of its own and fell into place. The funding was agreed with Sloane Stanley and Imperial College London agreed to us re-imaginging the space for the winter. We found artists and craftsmen to design, build and paint the space.

First, the craftsmen and the artists...

...arrived to work their magic. First they built a shed and a frame. Then six artists answered the call to get involved - Marguerite, with experience of painting large scale BBC scenes, ably helped by her daughter, Hope. Natasha, an interior designer / fine artist painted the trees, Gail a portrait painter painted small woodland creatures and plants and Binny, another local artist joined the group to create a beautiful woodland glen and then Sue came along and painted two magpies for joy and added the mistletoe...

Then the rest came too...

...children from Hill House decorated the Forest of Advent with hand drawn leaves and then art students from Chelsea Academy painted advent hearts. Like all good ideas it spread and we had others wanting to sing, dance and generally be merry on King's Road over the winter season. We have Handelsbanken giving away chocolate money and Peter Jones having an open day and we have story telling sessions and crafting afternoons...

Now you too can join in the fun...

...the space is designed for everyone to enjoy spending time in creative pursuits - with no time pressure and away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Leave feeling instantly refreshed. We are releasing 17 doves later in December - keep checking for the date and time and come to see the spectacle. If you would like to make something fun happen at the Inn on King's Road, get in touch with us - we'd love to hear from you. hello@kingsroadchelsea.london
